RAG DAY IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS; YES/ NO?

Students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism participating in Rag- day ceremony.

Rag-day, as it fondly called and cherished in our tertiary institutions of learning, is a day set aside by the social planners and organizers of institutions which entails students dressing like mad personality in rags and roaming the street for the purpose of making money.

Based on what was learned, rag-day was initiated by institution governors or president of student union in the sense that its purpose is to help children in need, particularly in the orphanage........

It is so funny that these days, rag days are not celebrated with the orientation of charity any longer. but rather, it is still a day students look forward to for the wrong reasons.

They use the day as an avenue to fill their own pocket forgetting the purpose of the existence of the social event in the first place.

Now, the question is...." WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE RAG DAY AND IS THERE NEED FOR ANY CORRECTION OF ITS CHANGE IN BEARING???
                        These are the peoples response...........

EFFIONG  EYO
Rag day should'nt be eradicated because it one kind of fun students gets to have. It is like eradicating interhouse sport in secondary schools.

DIPLOMATIC KAYODE
It should be retained because it has been there right from time.

JAMES GLORIA
It should be eradicated because its full of stress and time wasting.

BIDEMI ADEYEMO
It should be eradicated because the original purpose has been abused and its now a form of begging which is a big shame.

DAVIDO
It should be eradicated because its an old fashion idea with no meaning.

TOBI OLAMIJU
It should be eradicated because the fun is lost and an unreasonable thing student  do.

LOBLUX
It should be eradicated because i cant imagine myself roaming the street in filthy rags and getting insults from people all in the name of money.

ANDREW
It should be eradicated because the last time my girlfriend ragged, she came back with 1000 contacts on her phone.

DEMMY
It should be eradicated because student now do it for their own interest while the main reason for it has been water washed.

VIKKY ADETORO
Rag day should be retained. Its fun and just a day exercise and so there is no big deal in making a fool of yourself for one day. It isnt the money that makes it fun but the experience.

DOLAPO DADA
Lailai... It should never be eradicated because it is a way students entertain themselves and get funds but nevertheless it should be done cautiously.

OJEBOLA MATTHEW
It shouldnt be eradicated but should be restricted from the street and limited to the school premises because it deface the society when youths dress up in rag as if something is mentally wrong.

AMARACHI AGWU
It sjhould be eradicated because they use the money gathered from it for their selfish reasons.

JOHN ABOKI
It should be eradicated because it is meaningless howbeit fun.

TOBI OMILANA
Rag day shouldnt be eradicated because of the fun.

GODSON
Rag day shouldnt be eradicated but students should be enlightened about this exercise because its main reason of practise has been abused.
